THE LOW SPOONS COOKBOOK

Cooking is hard when your spoons are low. I know, because I’ve been there too.

I’m autistic and ADHD, so I understand how overwhelming food can feel. Some days even deciding what to eat is exhausting, never mind finding the energy to make it. That’s why I created The Low Spoons Cookbook, a neurodivergent friendly book of recipes that are easy to follow, have very minimal steps, no previous cooking skills required, and have full colour pictures of each completed recipe. I wanted something simple and kind, a book that makes cooking feel possible again on the days when energy is at its lowest.

Inside you’ll find meals that are quick to prepare, easy to follow, and gentle on both your time and energy. Many recipes can be made in less than twenty minutes. A lot of them only need one pan, so there’s very little washing up. You’ll also find no-cook options for the days when even switching on the hob feels like too much. All of the recipes use affordable ingredients you can find in any supermarket, and they’re designed to be comforting and achievable without being complicated.

This isn’t a book about cooking the “right” way or aiming for perfection. It’s not about strict rules or feeling guilty if today all you manage is toast. It’s about having options you can actually manage when brain fog, decision fatigue, or exhaustion get in the way.

If you’re neurodivergent, living with chronic illness, or simply someone who struggles with low spoons, I hope this book makes mealtimes a little less stressful and a lot more comforting. Because we all deserve to eat well, even on the hardest days.
